Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP)
LVP Floors are installed as floating floors and require an underlayment pad to be beneath the plank. Some LVP will come with a pad already attached under the plank which makes them easier to install. LVPs are water resistant, however, Luxury Vinyl Planks are also a great product for families with children. LVP are pet proof, they are resistant to scratches from cats and dogs and theses floors are safe for children and elderly clientele due to its slip resistant properties.
Laminate Flooring Planks are an inexpensive alternative to real wood floors. Laminate floors come in different wood look styles and shades and are scratch-resistant. Laminate Floors are installed as floating floors and require an underlayment pad beneath the plank. Some manufactures have a water resistant laminate, however, water should not be left sitting on laminate floors for a prolong period of time and the planks need to be removed and reinstalled after the subfloor is completely dried. Laminate flooring planks come in different thicknesses that vary from 8 to 12 millimeters.
The thinner laminate planks are more suitable for a concrete subfloor. Thicker laminate planks are more suitable for a wood subfloor because the floor feels more sturdy. A great quality pad needs to be installed under the laminate to aid in soundproofing in homes, condominiums and apartments.
Hardwood & Engineered Wood
Engineered Wood Floors are constructed with multiple layers of wood. Engineered Wood Floors can be installed in three different ways: floating, glued or nailed. It is important to leave the proper amount of gaps needed for expansion and contraction in Florida homes and also use the proper pad under floating engineered floors.
When gluing engineered wood floors it is imperative to use a quality moisture barrier glue due to the vast humidity in Tampa Bay. Engineered and hardwood floors can be easily dented, scratched and stained due to the thin protective coating on the top of the floors and also the nature of the wood. These floors look sophisticated and are sturdy to walk on due to their thickness and they are thicker than luxury vinyl planks and laminate flooring.
Carpets are made with different materials according to its use and it comes in different colors and patterns. Carpet flooring is a great sound proofing product to use in rooms to reduce noise from footsteps. Various carpet manufactures have made carpet hypoallergenic and stain resistant. Carpet rolls are installed with a pad underneath and tackstrips are used to reinforce it on the outer boundaries. Carpet tiles are installed by being glued on to the subfloor.
Carpet flooring also aids in insulation in a home and it is also easy to walk on due to the padding and softness of the carpet. It is recommended to replace carpet every 7 years and carpet cleaning and vacuuming is recommended to maintain its quality and reduce dirt and dust.
